These are some of my favorite pictures of the summer so far. A typical summer day at the camp, with cousins over, everybody outside, swimsuits, towels, life jackets, shoes, toys, and such all over the yard, and my dad on the boat, as the kids experimenting behind it. These pictures are of my cousins, Braden and Ali.
This first picture, I'm kind of having a love/hate relationship with. I hate how the focus is so off. It almost completely ruins it for me, and I would normally discard it. But I'm just so in love with the expression. It's such a mix of pure shock/joy/happiness/fear that reminds me so much of my childhood summers experimenting on the water. And this wasn't just Braden's first try of the day, it was his first try ever. It took me forEVER to get up on the wakeboard, so I was not expecting this. I just can't get rid of it.
Braden was having a ball. Me, in the boat, on a beautiful day, with my camera? Naturally I was having a ball too.
I love when they start to get overconfident.
But sometimes, too much confidence...
...can lead to this.
Not to be outdone by her little brother, Ali took a turn on the board. This was her first time also and she wasn't quite as confident as Braden, but then again, she didn't wipe it quite as bad either.
And then Jake, the youngest, tried the skiboard. He tried once and didn't quite make it up, so I didn't get many pictures, but I ended up loving the ones I did get, especially this one. Something about the people and action and eyes around him and the look of concentration and determination on his face. I love it.
I'm missing summer already. And I hope you all are enjoying yours!
